The American Cancer Society is launching a study focused on solving the mystery behind the lowest cancer survival rates among Black women in the US. While cancer deaths have been on the decline in the country, Black women have the highest death rate for most types of cancer. The Voices of Black Women study aims to recruit at least 100,000 Black women between the ages of 25 and 55 from 20 states and the District of Columbia. Participants will be asked about lifestyle factors, medical history, and experiences of racism to determine potential risk factors for cancer and mortality.
