Explosion at Japan Port During PM Kishida Visit, No Injuries

TOKYO, Japan (AP) - Japan's NHK reported that a loud blast occurred in a port on the western coast of Japan during Prime Minister Fumio Kishhida's trip. However, there were no reports of injuries.

Kishida visited the Saikazaki Port in Wakayama Prefecture in order to support his ruling party candidate in an election. NHK reported that there was an explosion right before he began his speech.

NHK's footage shows several plainclothes and uniformed police officers pressing down on the suspect.

Nine months ago, Kishida’s predecessor Shinzo Abe was assassinated during a speech for a political campaign.
