6 injured in a shooting on a South Carolina beach during high school senior skip day, police say
Six people were injured in a shooting on a South Carolina beach Friday after fights broke out among high school seniors who were skipping school before spring break was set to start, police said.

Police said that six people were injured after a fight broke out at a South Carolina Beach Friday, while seniors were skipping class before spring break began.
Around 5:20 pm, gunfire broke out on the beach of Isle of Palms in Charleston's coastal city. Kevin Cornett, the Police Chief, said at a press conference on Friday that it was ET Friday. The chief stated that the shooting occurred during a fight between people participating in Senior Skip Day.
Cornett stated that five of the injured were between 18 and 19 years old. Cornett reported that a woman in her early or mid 40s, as well as a woman in her 30s, was also injured. Some of the wounded were taken to local hospitals while others went home. According to city officials, all injuries were not life-threatening.
There is no way to tell if there were multiple or just one shooter.
The police chief confirmed that several people have been detained and are being investigated. The police recovered several firearms at the scene. However, the chief could not confirm that the guns found were those used in the shooting.
